چکیده

The occurrence of adrenaline and noradrenaline in human cerebrospinal fluid (C.S.F.) has not yet been demonstrated. In this note figures for the concentration of these amines in C.S.F. are presented. Since the analysis required a substantial volume of C.S.F., i.e., 15 to 20 ml., the estimations were carried out on specimens withdrawn during air encephalography and came from patients with a suspected organic brain lesion. A small group of male schizophrenics was similarly investigated. The concentration of adrenaline and noradrenaline in plasma was determined for comparison in samples withdrawn simultaneously.

Brain angiotensin II stimulates release of pituitary hormones, plasma catecholamines and increases blood pressure in dogs.

1. The mechanisms of central angiotensin II blood pressure effects in conscious dogs on normal or sodium-deficient diets were examined. 2. The biosynthesis of brain angiotensin II in cerebrospinal fluid from its local precursor angiotensinogen was induced in vivo by injection of 0.5 unit of hog kidney renin through a chronically implanted cannula into the third brain ventricle in conscious dogs...

Cerebrospinal fluid levels of catechols in patients with neurogenic orthostatic hypotension.

In multiple system atrophy (MSA) and pure autonomic failure (PAF), orthostatic hypotension (OH) results from deficient noradrenaline release from sympathetic nerves during standing. Post-mortem findings have indicated loss of central noradrenergic cells in both diseases. The present study sought in vivo neurochemical evidence for central noradrenergic deficiency in patients with OH due to MSA o...

Human muscle sympathetic activity and cardiac catecholamine spillover: no support for augmented sympathetic noradrenaline release by adrenaline co-transmission.

1. Evidence from animal studies indicates that circulating adrenaline may be taken up into sympathetic nerves, facilitating the release of noradrenaline. To test whether adrenaline acts as a co-transmitter in humans we studied eight healthy men (aged 19-23 years) during isometric handgrip before and after an adrenaline infusion (1-3 micrograms/min for > 30 min). Sympathetic activity was assesse...

Hematopoietic stem cells (HSCs), which have the ability to differentiate into various types of blood cell lines, are usually separate from the bone marrow. But these cells are also present in a small amount in the peripheral blood, and their amounts increase in blood following injection of G-CSF. However, the mechanism involved in moving HSCs under the influence of G-CSF is unknown. The aim of ...

Relationship between overnight neuroendocrine activity and morning haemostasis in working men.

Sustained effects of SNS (sympathetic nervous system) and HPAA (hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal axis) hyperactivity on haemostasis have not been investigated. In the present study, we tested for an association of overnight urinary catecholamine and cortisol excretion with morning plasma levels of fibrinogen, PAI-1 (plasminogen activator inhibitor-1) and D-dimer. Participants (639 male industrial...
